Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Fire Safety
A nationional qualification suitable for operational personnel who conduct fire safety checks of low risk simple buildings.
This National Qualification is for operational firefighters, crew and watch managers and to assess and report to a fire safety officer on significant fire safety issues following operational incidents, community safety visits or premises visits under the Fire & Rescue Services Act etc.
Simple buildings
This qualification applies to those who conduct fire safety checks or audit simple premises, such as small shops, offices, hotels, residential care homes and industrial units with a simple layout and easy means of escape. Premises which can be easily be assessed using a DCLG Fire Risk Assessment Guide.

National Occupational Standards (NOS)
Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Fire Safety has three NOS: FS1, FS2, FS3
- NOS FS1: Identify and report fire hazards and risks
- NOS FS2: Assess risks associated with fire
- NOS FS3: Ensure protection measures are in place
