BEng (Hons) Fire Risk Engineering degree courses

Glasgow Caledonian University recognises Xact's Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering Design as being acceptable for entry onto our BEng Hons Degree at Part Time 3.  This is entry level in London and Level 2 in Glasgow and would entail 3 years of part time study to achieve the honours degree. As a part time degree, anyone undertaking it has to be employed in a relevant field but this would also include those self-employed. For more details contact the university directly.

The GCU programme - one of the few offered in the UK - was developed in close partnership with the Fire and Rescue Service. It is unique in its focus on fire safety design and regulations. It was the first in the UK to achieve academic exemption by the Institution of Fire Engineers at MIFireE level.

The GCU course has also been approved by the UK Engineering Council for IEng standard route and partial fulfilment of CEng standard route. Risk management, forecasting, problem solving and communication are all part of the programme, which has strong links with consultants and regulators who share their knowledge through guest lectures, case study materials and site visits. A number of Fire and Rescue Service Officers are associate lecturers.

This programme can be studied part-time at our London campus and full-time or part-time in Glasgow. Note the Fire Engineering degree programme in Glasgow is currently being developed to Master level.
