Fall for apprenticeships

Xact is set to roll out the second programme of its highly successful Level 4: Fire Safety Inspector Apprenticeships early in Autumn.

The course is suitable for those in specialised fire safety roles with responsibility for auditing or regulating complex premises and environments such as large premises, shopping centres, sleeping accommodation, places of assembly and open-air events.

Our first saw enthusiastic and highly motivated cohorts drawn from Fire Services, Universities, Housing Associations, NHS Trusts and Local Authorities when it started in March this year.

Eligible organisations receive a huge financial incentive to opt for fire safety apprenticeships with access to £11,000 Government funding per apprentice.

Apprenticeship Manager Rachel Willis welcomes the opportunity to advise on how to access Government-funding of between 95 and 100 per cent of training costs.

Qualification Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspectors) is awarded following successful completion of the programme.

The typical apprenticeship duration is 28 Months, consisting of 22 months training and six months End Point Assessment. EPA involves Knowledge Test, Practical Assessment with Questions and Professional Discussion along with Portfolio of Evidence.

Our Level 4 Fire Safety Inspector Apprenticeship is cut to 16 months for those who have achieved the Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety or Level 3 (Business) Fire Safety Advisor Apprenticeship.

Level 2 English and Maths, or equivalent, are required to qualify but Xact can help with these as part of our apprenticeship programme.

Our flexible delivery options include both face-to-face, our renowned virtual approach Interactive Virtual Classroom (iVC) or a combination of both.

Organisations are assured that we will support both apprentices and employers through the process. Our Apprenticeship Mentors offer managers meetings every eight to 12 weeks to discuss apprentice progress and enhancing learning.

It may also help to know that apprenticeships are available across the age range - 58 per cent of our current apprentices are between 40 and 49, although the minimum age is 16.

We would be delighted to welcome you on board when we launch new cohorts on the weeks commencing:

  • September 25 2023
  • January 22 2024
  • March 25 2024
  • May 20 2024
  • September 30 2024

Contact apprenticeships@xact.org.uk to find out more about Xact’s Apprenticeship programmes or to make initial enquiries about enrolling learners on a programme.

Do you have to do English and Maths?

Those apprentices that do not hold a Level 2 (GCSE Grade A-C/ 9-4) or equivalent Maths and English qualification will have to complete Functional Skills qualifications before they reach End Point Assessment.  This is part of the government funding requirements.

Xact’s specialist tutor will support those apprentices to achieve the Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications with Highfield Qualifications through a mixture of digital learning and coaching.
