Aim

To enable delegates to investigate in line with the appropriate disciplines, associated codes and legislation

Outcomes

Delegates should be able to:

  • risk assess and evaluate referrals and allegations
  • conduct a preliminary investigation
  • identify type of investigation, associated legislation and best practice
  • manage investigation effectively
  • understand and manage whistleblowers and confidential sources
  • review an investigation and identify required course of action
  • use relevant legislation and statutory powers to acquire information appropriately (PACE, DPA, CPIA, RIPA, etc)
  • use appropriate investigation and interview methods
  • identify and secure evidence
  • compile a witness statement
  • compile a case report
