Target audience

Sprinkler design engineers and installers, plumbing professionals, building control officers, approved inspectors, The Fire Service and fire safety professionals.

Aim

To enable delegates to design residential and domestic sprinkler systems and check design submissions.

Outcomes

On completion, delegates should have an understanding of:

  • Required legislation and codes of practice
  • Purpose and advantages of sprinklers
  • Functional design freedoms and trade-off
  • Options for cost-effective solutions
  • Potential as a community fire safety tool

Assessment

Delegates design a sprinkler system for a domestic premises

  • Specialised scientific calculator for hydraulic calculations

  • Canute FHC (full hydraulic calculation) software demonstration
  • Meals and refreshments
  • 16 hours Continual Professional Development

Delegates will be issued with a copy of British Standard 9251:2005 and a scientific calculator to keep
