Target audience
Fire Safety Officers, Inspectors, Fire Engineers, Building Control Officers and Risk Assessors
Aim
To provide delegates with a working knowledge of the Firecode series so they can comment on design change applications and audit fire risk assessments in complex NHS premises
Outcomes
On course completion delegates should have:
- awareness of Health Technical Memorandums (HTM's) that make up the Firecode series
- understanding of HTM 0502: Guidance in support of functional provisions and apply the document to a design alteration
- understanding of HTM 0503: Operational Provisions: Part A General Fire Safety
- understanding of HTM 0503: Operational Provisions: Part K Guidance on Fire Risk Assessments in complex premises
- ability to conduct a site visit which concludes in a compliance audit exercise
Course format
The course consists of 3 sections:
- Firecode Guides and their functional provision in healthcare premises
- Application of Firecode Guides, fire risk assessment and auditing healthcare premises
- Practical exercise at a healthcare premises
Premises visit
Course includes a site visit with exercise to carry out a compliance assessment of a healthcare premises
Delivery
The sessions will be delivered using PowerPoint presentations, flipchart explanation, group discussion, individual tuition and practical exercises to reinforce outcomes
Prior learning
Delegates should have experience in the application of fire safety guides and risk assessment or auditing
