Target audience

Sprinkler design engineers and installers, plumbing professionals, building control officers, approved inspectors, The Fire Service and fire safety professionals.

Aim

To enable delegates to design residential and domestic sprinkler systems and check design submissions.

Outcomes

On completion, delegates should have an understanding of:

  • Required legislation and codes of practice
  • Purpose and advantages of sprinklers
  • Functional design freedoms and trade off
  • Options for cost effective solutions
  • Potential as a community fire safety tool

Delegates will also learn to:

  • Offer advice
  • Design a system
  • Assess a system design submission
  • Apply hydraulic calculations
  • Appreciate specialist software

LPCB 1301 approval scheme

The course is designed for delegates to acquire the knowledge and skills to be assessed as an LPCB 1301 Design Supervisor. For more information on the assessment requirements see Section 2.4 ... LPS 1301 [112Kb]

Assessment

As part of the assessment, delegates design a sprinkler system for a domestic premises

Cost includes

  • British Standard 9251:2005 (worth £100)
  • 16 hours continual professional development
  • Specialised scientific calculator for hydraulic calculations
  • Meals and refreshments
  • Course manual and exercises
  • Canute FHC software - delegates will use Canute full hydraulic calculation software during the course

Delegates will be issued with their own personal copy of British Standard 9251:2005 and a scientific calculator to keep

Cost

DR - Delegate rate for both days £590
DR + 1 night accommodation £680
DR + 2 nights accommodation £770

All prices are exclusive of VAT which will be added at the current rate
Overnight accommodation includes bed, breakfast and evening meal

Continual Professional Development

This course has been independently assessed by the CPD Certification Service and awarded 16 hours CPD

Delivery

The sessions will be delivered using PowerPoint presentations, flipchart explanation, group discussion, individual tuition and plan based exercises to renforce outcomes
